My Artist Statement

The following are thoughts that I have made visible through my paintings throughout the years . The beginning of each painting is different. Sometimes I start with a small part of reality and I give it a magical tilt. Some I start with pure abstraction and they end abstract. From these simple beginnings, each painting becomes a unique piece. My viewers often comment about the movement that takes place in each piece. Our thoughts have a beginning and an end but what is in between is the special part which contains the multi-facets of the inner being forming a coherent thought from beginning to end. Layers of the painting depict underlying thoughts. Some surface while others fade away. In my paintings, I am trying to make a place that is beautiful, to live “with” or “in.” We are ruining the earth, “disgracefully.” The paintings may remind you of places you have seen, places seen only in your mind, or places to be seen in the future. There are many galaxies to be found. While I am here on earth, I want to share some beauty that is “inside” me, with my viewers. People are always asking me : “ what are my paintings about?” or what are the deeper meanings?” I say they are my feelings. My native language is painting. When I speak through my paintings I must use my language which is based on feeling. When you understand this, then my paintings are complete and our thoughts are one. I want the world to join me in dancing and singing with color. Isn’t it time the world stops talking so much and just finds peace?
