I am a Kiwi (a native of New Zealand). It was in New Zealand that I undertook an 8,000 hour, cabinetmaking apprenticeship, beginning in 1974. I received the Advanced Trade Certificate in 1980.
It has been my fortune to have worked for a number of different cabinetmaking companies which have widened my knowledge of different styles of furniture. When I came to the United States in 1991, I was able to open Andy’s Fine Furniture. From 2000-2002, I took time out from my own business to work for Michael Charles’ Cabinetmakers in Massachusetts, making New England style furniture. While in Massachusetts, I was also able to work for Nicholas Mongiardo, Inc., making reproductions of French Art Deco pieces of the 1920’s-1930’s. My personal style leans toward the simplicity of the New England furniture with its straight lines and clean detail.
