Heather and Fred Studios

For over 10 years we have been building custom furniture at our furniture studio in Tempe, AZ. We enjoy creating beautiful functional pieces that enhance our clients lives and living spaces. As a child, Fred grew up in a furniture restoration shop, and later earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts at Clemson University. There Fred and Heather teamed up to start creating art and functional sculpture. Today we work directly with homeowners, contractors, architects and designers to bring award winning projects to life.

My Artist Statement

At Heather and Fred Studios we design and build fine artistic furniture in a contemporary style. Fine craftsmanship and an attention to detail set our pieces apart from the mass-produced world of today's furniture. We work with solid hardwoods, plywood and natural wood veneers. Every step is done as "green" as possible; woods from sustainably harvested forests, low or formaldehyde free glues, and water based finishes. Our pieces are built one at a time, in the studio tradition, and are built to last. Our designs are contemporary and artistic, but not in the sense of stark modernism or art for art's sake. Our furniture is both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional. You can choose from one of our original designs, or we would be happy to work with you on your custom project. We can work together to design a piece that will compliment your lifestyle and enhance your environment, or we can also customize pieces you see in our portfolio and website, using different dimensions and materials.
