Janean found her niche in writing and photography as a student at Northeastern Illinois University. During her time there, she created .:Seeds:., an award winning literary arts journal that has featured content submitted by writers and artist all over the world. As editor-in-chief, she led the university newspaper to win awards from both the Illinois College Press Association and Associated College Press.
In May of 2010, an essay entitled, "We Are Still a Family: Same Gendered Family", was her first international publication in Ebony Magazine. In 2012, Janean was inducted to the '2012 Who's Who Among American Colleges and Universities'. She is also a McNair Scholar, which means she is no stranger to thorough and accurate research.
Janean founded Write 2 Shoot Media, a media company which provides insightful and thought provoking visual and written content, publishing, editing and layout design to boost or enhance the web presence of various media outlets, individuals, small businesses and non-profit organizations. She is also a network marketing pro, who manages her time to include penning a speculative fiction novel entitled “The Naysayers”, and creating a photographic travel memoir of her most recent time in Europe.
My photography is influenced by my experiences. What I find visually stimulating is often related to a person, place or thing I have encountered in my daily life and in my travels. I write and take photos to tell the stories I see, to enlighten the world and to spark interactions within our society. It is my means of communication within our fast-paced world.
