I started my career as a graphic designer, and it has served me well as a fine artist. As a professional artist for over three decades, I have developed my work with a sense of graphic line, tone and shape, — and with a spontaneous, bold, splashy style of drawing and painting. Having grown up in Southern California, I have always found a way to bring its bright colors to my projects in a way that challenges and catches the eye, combining my different styles together (architectural drawing, portraits, landscape etc.) onto one canvas. After relocating to New York City in the mid 70s, I began accepting large commission projects in 1997. I primarily work in acrylics, watercolors, oil pastels, color pencil art sticks and gouache. I admire the work of Henri Matisse and Raoul Dufy, as well as Richard Diebenkorn and Ed Ruscha, both of whom were my instructors at UCLA, where I received my art degree. Much of my work revolves around cityscapes, favorite landmarks, locations, and everyday objects, often highlighting a single element of focus. I also enjoy working with collage. My work reflects a modern contemporary style, and is influenced by the POP Art movement and abstract expressionism. Traveling and keeping sketch books is a passion of mine, and I have had art presentations in Asia, Europe, South America and the United States. My work is collected in museums and private collections, including the Library of Congress and the New York Historical Society. My Artist Statement

I was surrounded by art at an early age since my father was an animator on Walt Disney animated films such as Fantasia, so my environment was filled with magic markers, pastels, watercolor paints and more. As a master painter, he was a big influence on me. I remember drawing from around the age of 5 or 6. I love working in a spontaneous, loose and bold fashion, with lots of bright colors. I especially like the freedom that painting with watercolors gives me. I enjoy working in black and white as well. I sketch and draw daily, and for me, work has got to be fun.
