Vinita Jain is an artist who lives in Cary, North Carolina and she is originally from India. She has been a graphic designer before she moved to being a full time artist. She has lived in the United States for the past 14 years and has attended Art School and taken workshops with renowned artists.
Vinita works in soft pastels and acrylics. She likes to work in an impressionistic manner trying to achieve a sense of rhythm and movement which are the inherent qualities of her work. She uses color to convey a mood and to produce harmony and unity in her paintings.
Over the years Vinita has been a part of numerous solo and group shows. She is an Associate member of The Pastel Society of America, Fine Arts League of Cary,The Pastel Society of North Carolina and Durham Art Guild. Her work has been accepted and exhibited in other national juried shows. She is the recepient of the third place award in the Abstract Category of the Pastel 100 competition of the Pastel Journal which was published in March/April 2010 issue.
I am drawn to a subject because of the colors and the way light falls on it and I translate it by working in a spantaneous and impressionistic manner using color to create visual harmony and using repititive strokes to convey a sense of energy, rhythm and movement.
