The 1999 Alexander McQueen runway finale inspired this original watercolor fashion illustration. McQueen had initially got the idea for this dress from installation artist Rebecca Horn which had two shotguns firing blood-red paint at each other. In the finale, McQueen positioned the supermodel Shalom Harlow on a rotating circular platform while two robots spray-painted her dress. So again, art inspired fashion and then fashion inspired art. The watercolor medium was the perfect vehicle for this artwork which conveyed the chaotic frenzy experienced by the model, who pops against a cedar green background.
There are more watercolors in this series where art meets fashion and fashion meets art.
