Food Forest

This medium-large painting in acrylic is based on photographs taken at an urban "food forest" style garden, and features three stages of life of three artichokes -- from flower to vegetable to a flower-head that is past its expiration date. The flowers are set against an energetic abstracted forest of leaves and other plant forms. This painting was created specifically for a local art show celebrating the non-profit Urban Patchwork Neighborhood Farms of Austin, TX.
