Black Necked Stork

The Black-Necked Stork (Ephippiorhynchus asiaticus) is a long necked and tall wading bird in the stork family Ciconiidae. It is a resident species across south and south-east Asia and Australia, and uses wetland habitats to forage in. Adult birds are patterned in white and glossy blacks with a heavy bill, but the colour of the iris helps differentiate genders. In Australia, it is also called the Jabiru although that name usually refers to a Stork species found in the Americas. It is of the few territorial storks, builds single nests on trees, and is a carnivore with a wide variety of animals in its diet.
