Sinker Cypress is retrieved lumber that is also known as deadhead cypress, reclaimed cypress, old growth cypress, and virgin cypress. This fantastic old growth lumber was cut sometime during the 1800s and then rafted to different sawmills in Louisiana. Many of the logs were lost or sunk on their trip to the sawmills where they sat underwater in the Louisiana swamps, bayous and lakes. These recovered sinker cypress logs are sawn into this prized Sinker Cypress lumber... and I create these unique sculpted and carved artboxes.
