Melnik Echoes is a montage of interior architectural details. In Melnik, as in all other Bulgarian houses of the upper middle class during the Revivalist period, walls and ceilings were painted by hand. This painting captures a typical wall treatment and ceiling pattern. I realized that the pieces were done freehand, not with stencils, as I painted what I saw. No two flowers are exactly alike.

The painting is 13 inches high by 29 inches wide, acrylic on stretched canvas on heavy duty stretchers, with painted sides; a frame is not necessary. It is signed and dated on the back. I send a letter of provenance which increases the value of the work. All my artwork is copyrighted by Eleanor Gilpatrick. Copyright is nontransferable through the purchase of artwork.
