Mosaic Sculpture "Coasting On The Wings Of Tomorrow"
I wanted to use mostly items that were already available to me re-purposing what I could with what I could find.
"Coasting On The Wings Of Tomorrow" was made to show at an art league I belonged to the many different ways a mosaic could be used as art.
This sculpture has many interesting pieces in it. I started with a broken stem from a wine glass, a 6 inch white bisque ceramic sphere, stained glass and pieces of a broken mirror, a white porcelain bird (on sale at the local craft store) and a vintage blue and white glass marble from my own stash of collected items from family over the years.
Designs on the sphere were to look like waves but abstract design can be seen in many different ways. Some saw seahorses, some say they could see a few elephants. Many said they saw a very nice mosaic piece!
Colors range in stained glass in white, lilac, aquamarine to a deep blue. Iridescent glass and small blue beads shaped like hearts were included.
The mosaic is grouted in white and sealed.
The final result is a small sculpture measuring 15 inches high. Additional photos are available upon request.
Stay peaceful.
