The Other and the Woman

After experimenting on the effects of monochromatic color mixing, I turned to complementary colors to continue my exploration of color theory using complementary color schemes. In addition to following the same creative process started with the Divinities series, I incorporated actual movement, allowing the liquidized paint to run freely over the surface. Manual shifting and movement of the board helped mix the colors together for a more natural response. Whereas in the Divinities series the overall effect was one of the deepest regions of space, by the allowing the paint to flow freely, these pieces resembled images as seen through the distorted surface of shimmering water.
