FINE ART CAREER
Bill has been painting, exhibiting, and selling his work for nearly all of his adult life. in 1977, while serving on active duty (flying KC-135A and B-1B Aircraft for the Air Force) he completed his first commissioned drawing...a whopping 6' x 3' picture of a B-1B Bomber that was so realistic that many mistook it for a photograph! Since then, he has counted numerous celebrities and governmental leaders as his clients. His works are part of government, corporate and private collections throughout the US and at last count at least 18 different countries.
He has had several one man and group shows in Reno, NV and in Southern California, and has received numerous awards for his work, including "Best of Show" for 6 out of 8 entries in the Nevada State Fair. His paintings have appeared on the covers of magazines and in December, 2009 he was featured in an article appearing in "Pet Folio" magazine. In June, 2011, he was featured as "Artist of the Month" by The Art Collaboration.com website.
Giving back to the community is very important to Bill, as he currently teaches 4 painting classes per week, including Beginning Oil Painting, Advanced Oil Painting, Senior's Oil Painting and Beginning Acrylic Painting classes. He regularly donates his artwork (prints and originals) to various charitable organizations who work to preserve nature and wildlife, and at last count, has helped raise over $1 million for their causes. Bill currently resides in Reno, NV with his wife, Lisa.
From a very early age, I was inspired by my mother’s paintings and artistic talent. Throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s, I sold several aviation drawings while serving on active duty in the US Air Force for nearly 12 years. It was not until the late 1990’s that I expanded my talents, and picked up a paint brush.
My passion for detail and realism were developed during my college studies at Colorado University where I minored in Architectural Design, but it has only been in the last decade that I have focused on bringing that love for technical accuracy to my oil paintings. I have found that combining my deep appreciation of nature and an eye for technical detail -- produce some amazing results on canvas!
Detail evokes such a strong sense of who I am. When I paint, I want to capture the same feeling on canvas that you would feel if you were standing in the middle of the picture…the mist of a morning dew, the glory of a sunrise, the adrenaline of seeing a wild animal in its natural surroundings. It’s one thing to paint a pretty picture, but with each painting that I do, I try to make it as technically accurate as possible. I feel it is my duty as an artist to paint each scene or animal as accurately as I can. One day, that scene or that animal may disappear from the face of the earth…and if we lose them, we lose a part of what makes us who we are!
I was raised in Denver, CO and currently reside with my wife, Lisa in Reno, NV.
