My woodworking career began as a natural extension of my education in fine art. During my undergraduate study I worked in many mediums including bronze, glass, ceramics and wood. When I completed my BFA from Alfred University in 1988 I was creating sculpture in wood and glass, exploring light, shadow and creative expression. I had supported myself during those years doing general carpentry and continued working in the field, a very accessible way to make a living. I developed as a craftsman working in New England renovating classic Victorian homes. In 1992 I relocated to Colorado. I founded my own company and broadened my scope of work as a licensed general contractor and continued to specialize in custom interior woodworking. My background in fine art, my skills in woodworking and a sound business model brought me nearly two decades of very satisfying work. In 2004 my family and I relocated to Maine to enjoy a life by the sea and return to the roots of craftsmanship that I originally found in New England. I continue to operate a full service contracting company as Blue Spruce Joinery and with a strong emphasis on fine custom interiors

My work is a fusion of the past and present creating a future. I like to study the features of all woodwork and add things to my furniture styles as I go. Doing commissioned work gives me a chance to explore other styles expanding my perspective.
