Cheekybird is jewelry and art created from a recipe of influences including textures, function, fluidity, architecture, microbes, seasons, sea creatures, shells, trees, and bird nests and eggs. Jewelry pieces are constructed from hand-forged materials and found objects using copper, silver, brass, gold, semi-precious stones and minerals. Pieces are then finished in a matte, high-polish, patina or enamel. Silkscreens are hand-drawn and computer-generated designs printed onto menís ties and adult/child clothing. Alicia Owens is the owner and designer of Cheekybird. She is a local Chicago artist who creates out of her studio in Rogers Park and dabbles in all DIY projects.
