My work celebrates nature, from seascapes to the creatures and plants from my own homestead in North Carolina. I work in bright, vibrant colors, and I try to bring out the humor and joy of the natural world.
My most recent series is a collection of paintings that study flora and fauna found on our homestead. The plants featured in the paintings feature medicinals from passion flowers to comfrey leaves. In addition to their healing properties for humans, these medicinal plants also attract a host of pollinators. Among them are the much loved honey bees that we are so often reminded of when we think of the global impact that humans have have on the environment. Also featured in the collection are chickens, the great comedians of the homestead. Laughter, too, is great medicine.
