About Ellen Goodman
Iíve always been intrigued by photography. When I received my first good camera as a college graduation present in the 1970s, it was a life-changing event. As a woman with an artistic eye, who was never comfortable with a paintbrush and tubes of color, I found the camera to be the perfect tool for capturing the image in my mindís eye. If art is beauty created by light and composition, then photography is the medium best suited to express that beauty. With a lifetime of looking and creating compositions, I see and then seize the moment, capturing them forever on film, now digitally, and ultimately on paper. "You don't take a photograph, you make it." -Ansel Adams
As a fine art photographer, and lifelong New Yorker, I specialize in images of my city. I make them interesting by finding unique angles and creating interesting compositions. All of my work is available in color and in black and white, in sizes ranging from 8x10 up to 40x60".
There are thousands of images available, of iconic New York, of Washington DC, Philadelphia and other cities, as well as seascapes, people and places, and nature.
