I'm a painter with my own perspectives, a traveler, thinker, and lover of life. I was born in Europe, grew up in New York City, moved to Canada's west coast, where I live now on a island in the Salish Sea. I like to mix classical and jazz (seasoned craft and inventive play) approaches to painting. I hope my paintings convey the interrelatedness of the inner and outer worlds we inhabit, their richness, variety, and wonder across different styles and media.
My paintings live where the imagination gets real. They travel across borders, celebrating life across different timescapes and people, crossing real and imagined terrains. Animism infuses my work, whether figurative or abstract. I'm drawn to the figure and to life in all its forms, colors, textures, and varieties of expression and meaning. My paintings have won some awards, been in some solo gallery shows, appeared in some media and books, and found homes in interesting places.
