About Joanne Schoener Scott
A Venezuelan native, Joanne lived in South America and Europe before immigrating to the United States in 1980. She is fluent in Spanish, since her mother’s roots are Spanish-Italian. Her father's ancestors sailed from England in the 1890's to settle on the Caribbean island of Barbados, where they still live to this day.
The influence of this mixed cultural background plays an integral role in Joanne's vibrant paintings. After receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art from TCU and after many years working in Graphic Design, Joanne has dedicated the last decade to her love of painting with Acrylics.
All originals are available as Giclee Archival Prints, which can also be mounted on deep-profile wooden cradleboards. Many of Joanne’s customers request custom sizes to fit their personal décor. Joanne’s inventory includes Greeting Cards, Framed Ceramic Trivets, Calendars and Journals featuring her artworks.
Commissions are also welcomed!
Joanne’s artwork can also be viewed at Front Street Gallery in Poulsbo, Washington where she is Manager and Board member. The Blackwater Trading Company and Gallery represent her

Vibrant Acrylic Color fused with Mixed Media
My paintings start their journey with a deep desire to express an emotional feeling. Color is the primary vehicle used to reach this destination. Some paintings begin their voyage with handmade papers and various molding pastes, which harden to create various textures. Over these mediums Acrylic paint is brushed, scumbled, scraped-off or delicately glazed over the surface. I've been experimenting with different substances and materials like oils paints, pastels, saran wrap and rubbing alcohol to discover repelling qualities or produce exciting visual effects. There is always a surprise in store and I delight in seeing the joy it brings to the viewer!
