About Kara Artistics
Kara Schoeman is a Free State based artist who specialises mostly in sculpture and video projections. Her work speaks about human nature and individuality, that which is similar between us but also that which separates us from one another. Her Honours degree in Psychology helps her to depict how individuals perceive their surroundings and what effect these perceptions have on their lives. Most of her artworks reveal specific mental disorders and how these disorders are experienced by individuals. She often connects these concepts of phenomenology with theories in quantum physics. She is boggled by the twenty-first century findings regarding Thomas Young’s double slit experiment. Schoeman often reflects on what these results of quantum physics experiments mean in our every day perceptions of reality.
