Stephanie Mead has been creating paintings her whole life. After earning her B.A in Painting and Printmaking in San Diego, she moved to New York to continue her artistic pursuit. Always looking to broaden her connections, she joined the art handling team at Museum of Modern art, New York. She currently creates paintings in her free time in her Brooklyn artist’s loft. Recent exhibitions include a group show within MoMA, a showing ATVs a castle Fitzjohns Gallery in the Lower East Side, and a permanent page within the 2015 “Art Students League of New York On Painting” hardcover book.
I create fantastical narratives where realistic environments transition into the world of the imagination. This body of work combines colorful, embellished layers of painting, drawing, collage and found components that create visions of personal experience. Animal imagery reflects aspects of our psychology and human nature. Architectural elements relate to how we interact with our modern society. I hope to encourage the viewer to interact with their own human emotion and their personal tie to the beauty and magic that constantly surrounds us.
