A native of the Outer Banks of North Carolina in the Southeast United States, I grew up with a strong connection to the sea and the maritime history that goes with it. My family goes a long way back with origins in England, my grandfather being a particularly able sailor of his own craft as well as a master shipwright. Naval art and historical maritime prints, maritime art and the sea have gone hand in hand with my upbringing.
I have been able to draw upon this rich family background and my life by the sea with an almost scholarly approach to all of my pieces, always aiming for the most exacting historical accuracy with all the maritime art and history I portray while never losing sight of bringing the viewer into the drama of the event.
I received my art school training and Bachelor's degree from East Carolina University School of Art. I am currently devoting myself exclusively to building my portfolio of maritime art, marine art, limited edition lithographs, nautical art, prints and framed art.
My work has been published and hangs in marine art galleries as well as private nautical art collections. I am also available for commissions for original maritime artwork.
Original maritime artwork, historical artwork and nautical art prints from the age of Horatio Nelson with depictions of the Battle of Trafalgar and other famous naval battles from the Napoleonic Wars, American Civil War and World Wars I & II with exhaustive research, working with some of the most knowledgeable maritime historical sources in the world. My goal is simple: capture each historical event with all the accuracy and drama to bring the viewer into that moment. This is enhanced on my limited edition lithographs and naval art with a unique graphic synopsis of the event. www.maritimeillustrations.com
