I live in a rural area of Pennsylvania from which I draw a great deal of my inspiration, whether for paintings, illustrations, or photographs. It is also the setting for many of my books. As both an author and an artist, my imagination is constantly in high gear. I tend to paint (or want to paint) anything that's not standing still, which is how I started also illustrating children's furniture as well as books. Artistic expression is deeply important to me, whether a depiction on canvas, a photograph, a story told through images, or a piece of furniture to capture a child's imagination.
As an artist, I am inspired by color and nature, and adapted an illustrative style in most instances to depict what I see and feel. Working with acrylics, ink, watercolor, and occasionally oils, my paintings are designed to invoke a sense of familiarity to the viewer, and a feeling that a story lurks behind the image.
