Born in Beijing, China, Wenli’s passion for drawing started to show very early. She received her education in both Engineering and Graphic design which shows in the rigorous structure of her paintings. Wenli then worked several years as a journalist and a graphic designer in Beijing and San Francisco. She’s lived and traveled many places in Asia, America and Europe, experienced and studied both eastern and western culture and history.
After many years building up her own fundamentals and passion for fine arts, she now resides in Dallas, Texas, working full time as a painter.
I became fascinated by abstract art a few years ago. My paintings are mainly non-representational in nature.
Having grown up in China, I treasure the depth of my culture very much. I try to merge some of its elements into my works, sometimes a perceptible symbol, sometimes just a hint tucked in between the layers.
I mainly use acrylic, sometimes oil, along with many other substances providing texture, and items that endow my paintings with meaning and memory. My paintings are always a process of exploration thus I always try to carry out more than just one certain appearance.
I hope you will like my paintings as much as I enjoyed making them.
