About Xenia Orphanides
I studied at Westminster University Product Design, Writing and Theatre Directing at Middlesex University. I always like talking about truth and how I see the world, my work is poetic and mysterious. I am keen for the viewer to use more of their imagination whilst looking at the painting, to discover more. In the past, I wrote and directed plays. Whilst the story was being told, physical theatre, colour, rhythm came to life to express the inner world of the character. This has influenced my art work. Most of my plays received 4 star reviews and they were performed at main theatres abroad. It's been three years to write a play as I am keen to concentrate on my art. In the past, my art work was created with oil painting. At present, I am keen on watercolours and colouring pencils. I believe it gives the expression of what I am aiming at. Whilst a story is being told, something deeper comes to life. My main theme at the moment, is nature, light, colour, expression and truth.
Old, antique, classical feeling with a mysterious edge, the work is to capture the imagination, to discover more than meets the eye. Wherever it goes, you will see it differently each day.
