Product description:Beneath the warm autumn sun, the boughs and branches in this grove of lakeside trees seemed to form a natural canopy over me. I had to hurry in order to capture the fading light and chiaroscuro effect of the shadows as evening drew on. I kept my palette restricted to umber tones, while adding sharp contrasts such as the blue sky and peach-colored leaves through the trees. I painted this on French linen, and surrounded the scene with a warm but unpretentious brown frame.
