Product description:The sengese is of a type of throwing knife found among the Matakam and other groups (including the Bata, Fali, Fata, Guidar, Kapsiki, Mafa, Massa, Mofou, Mousgoum, Podoko and Toupouris) living in the Mandara Mountains, a range which extends from Chad and northeastern Nigeria to northwestern Cameroon. Formerly used by warriors, who would hold two or three in their left hand with their shield and throw them with the right hand, such knives today function as ceremonial objects, being carried over the shoulder as ornamentation.
