Artwork Description: Arbutus is often carved green before it is totally dry as it is such a hard wood. As the bowl dried it changed shape and tilted. This arbutus burl bowl is first turned allowed to dry slowly and then carved. It’s rich grain and the natural bark edge give it a unique appearance, with the wings wrapping back around the bowl into a landscape of trees and mountains. It was inspired by the eagles that dominate our coastal forests here on the Westcoast of B.C.
