Product description: This is the sixteenth in a new series of acrylic works on canvas. I began painting many years ago with acrylics and work with acrylics when doing outdoor public works, but this is the first time I have revisited acrylic painting on canvas in many years. It has always been my interest in expanding on the tools that I have as an artist and constantly evolving as a painter. This piece is a completely unique and original abstract acrylic painting on canvas. It is an exercise in fluid painting. This piece is stunning in its fluorescent and vibrant color and movement. This painting embodies the definition of the name given, defined as "a brief eruption of intense high-energy radiation from the sun's surface, associated with sunspots and causing electromagnetic disturbances on the earth, as with radio frequency communications and power line transmissions." There is a strong juxtaposition between the sheer beauty of this painting and the immense power of this natural phenomenon. It is the sixteenth in my new series of abstract acrylic works. Note: This painting is painted on canvas and does not come framed, however the painting continues on the edges of the canvas and therefore framing is not necessary. It is hang ready. A thin layer of varnish protects the artwork against UV light and dust. Painting in pictures might not be perfectly to scale. This painting is signed on the front and includes my Certificate of Authenticity. © 2017 PMS Artwork. All rights reserved.

Artist Preston M. Smith (PMS) found himself cross-eyed and with no depth perception as a child. This was the "lens" through which he developed his unique visual perspective of the world, which he now shares as a painter. Graduating from Gonzaga University with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art/Theater Arts, Preston then moved to Los Angeles where he has since worked for over a decade as a fine artist. Preston’s work can best be categorized as having a mixture of both abstract and figurative styles, many times within the same...read more
