Artwork Description: "A 'sunset at sea' can occasionally be bright and colorful to the delight of beach strolling enthusiasts."
Artist comment: "Sunsets are fun to paint. Here on the Pacific Northwest coast, with so many gray and rainy days, a glorious sunset is a welcome delight. In this oil painting on canvas, I wanted to convey that rare occasion. I began with a sketch in a 'Z' composition. I chose sunset orange and it's complement, deep blue. It is unconventional to paint the sun, but in this case it emphasises the brilliance of the moment. I paintd the translucent wave and it's patterns of foam, bringing that blue into the foreground, thereby 'dividing' the canvas in thirds. The rocks are the finishing touch to break the totality of sea and clouds."
