Artwork Description: Number 4 in my series "Famous Flirts" -- .a surrealistic yet whimsical portrait of Catherine Howard (1521-1542), the fifth wife (of 6) of King Henry VIII of England. She was ordered beheaded by Henry, ostensibly for adultery. He was 48, and impotent, and she was about 19 or 20. This work was also inspired by the classic progressive rock album by Rick Wakeman entitled "The Six Wives of Henry VIII" which has been a favorite of mine since it came out in 1973.
Acrylics, beaded lace, rhinestones, jewelry, paper collage, ribbon trim on 3/4" stretched canvas, 36 x 24 x 3/4". Canvas is painted on all sides, no frame necessary.
