White Deer Realm large colourful abstract forest landscape with white deer by Gill Bustamante White Deer Realm large colourful abstract forest landscape with white deer by Gill Bustamante
$ 1700.00 In stock
Product description: A 36 x 48 x 1.5 inches large semi abstract original oil painting of a forest landscape with white deer. The painting is art nouveau and abstract in style, thickly painted in places and is very colourful. A white deer stag and a doe stand in the foreground next to some ancient trees looking as if they were just elevated from within the ground itself. They look at the viewer questionably as deer do - wondering whether we are decent humans or brutal ones with guns. They have a message for those who can hear it. Behind them is a suggestion of a lake and around them are the colours of spring and summer trees in a forest. This is another in a series of stag paintings very much inspired by seeing deer often in the Ashdown forest area. They are otherworldly creatures and they fascinate me. Painted on deep edge canvas, white edges, no frame needed.

As a child I taught myself to draw and paint by copying animals and horses out of books on an almost daily basis. Then in 1979 I did a foundation course at Chelsea and then a degree course at Brighton where I graduated in 1983 with a fine art degree in sculpture. I then worked in a studio on the seafront for a while making sculptures with an architect for clubs and hotels. ‚Äč On moving to East Grinstead in the late 80's, I began painting for an art agent that specialised in...read more
