Product description:Where columns are ordinarily round, sometimes square, these ten are rectangular in section, joined by crossmembers at the top to create compound columns that are connected in a semicircular arrangement. The semicircle of columns has been used by architects to define public spaces going back at least to the primordial stone columns at Stonehenge and the older circle of stones in the town of Avebury, England. The shape seems to mean something, but it is never clear what. In this piece, the columns run into each other. There is no point where you can get a clear vision of all of them. The bright edges pick up your eye, diverting you from a clear picture of the piece itself.
