Artwork Description: This piece in curly olive Ash is quite possibly my favorite so far. Ash has been prized for centuries because of its strength and flexibility. Native Americans used ash as the choice lumber for their bows for these very reasons.
The "curly" description refers to the shimmering rays that run perpendicular to the grain in this lumber. Similar in nature to "tiger" Maple, the rays seem to move within the piece as light plays across it.
"Olive" ash is not a separate species of Ash, but rather a unique occurrence within the heart of a European Ash tree. When the tree grows abnormally, the growth rings alternate in color giving an elegant pinstripe appearance. When coupled with the curly nature of the wood, the overall effect is truly striking.
The bracelets are approximately 2 3/8" on the inside, which is snug, but not tight on the wrist. The gap in the band is approximately 3/4", which allows it to slide around the wrist, but not fall off. They are approximately 1" wide, but only about 1/8" thick, making them amazingly light for their bold appearance. All dimensions will vary slightly because of the handcrafted construction involved. Inner diameter and gap sizing can be accommodated at no extra charge.
Each piece is signed on the interior with my emblem, and packaged in a hand crafted origami gift box.
