Product description:Nautilus-1 Nautilus-1 shows a sectioned Nautilus shell face-on to the viewer. The shell is illuminated directly from the front, emphasizing the interior partitions. Subtle colors play across the pearlescent surface of the inner shell wall. This image is from the first series done after my vision deteriorated to the level of legal blindness. These shells are large, six to eight inches, filling the hand. I can easily hold them to feel their shape and texture. Their overall form implies an intriguing sense of motion from a static object. Images from this series are simple in concept: The shell is placed in front of the camera in a large room, and supported from behind. The support is concealed by the body of the shell. Strobe lighting comes from the front, illuminating only the subject. The background is allowed to go black due to underexposure. This pretty much represents how I was interacting with my surroundings at that time. In 2015, Nautilus-1 was selected as the cover art for a novel, "Outing The Mermaid" by author Anne Medlock. This book is available as an e-book and in paperback fromAmazon and Barns& Nobel. Nautilus-1 is presented here as an archival ink jet print produced from a digital file. 8x10 $175 Matted 11x14 $275 Matted 16x20 $400 Ships Rolled
