Product description:I make etchings in the traditional manner. I cover a metal plate with a waxlike acid resistant ground and with a needle draw a line through the ground thereby exposing the metal. I then put the plate in an acid bath where the exposed metal is bitten into to create a groove. The plate is then cleaned off and ink is spread onto it. The ink is wiped off the surface of the plate but stays in the groove. It is placed face up on the bed of a press, damp paper is placed on top, and two felt blankets go on top of that. It is rolled through the press and printed on the paper. That's an etching. Each image is part of an edition of 150 original prints. This is a four hundred year old technology. No photo processes, computer or otherwise are involved. It is all done by hand. The prints here come matted, and the specified size includes the mat. They are ready for framing. They are all signed and numbered by me, the artist. "Pebbles" is about as close to a real basketball as a work on paper can be. It actually looks and feels like a basketball. It is made using three plates.
