Product description:The painting is entitled Solent. It's accompanied to the song Watermark by Enya. This is a scene from the 1949 BOAC Silver Jubilee on the River Thames next to London Bridge. The aircraft is a Short Solent which was a passenger flying boat that was produced by Short Brothers in the late 1940s. It was developed from the Short Seaford, itself a development of the Short Sunderland military flying boat design, which was too late to serve in World War II. The first Solent flew in 1946. New Solents were used by BOAC and TEAL, production ending in 1949.

I've been drawing since childhood. I'm a retired military pilot. When stationed in northern Maine I began to paint. I painted off and on for 30 years...mostly off. After being furloughed from the airline industry I began to paint daily. I've been doing that for three years. I strive for realism. I enjoy painting from old black & white photos, videos, and ancient sculpture. I'm now dedicating my web site at AlbaPaintings.com to painting the greatest generation. read more
