Spoliare Etymology ORIGIN Middle English from Latin spolium plunder or a shortening of despoil. This is a photo that I shot while visiting a farm that happened to be burning their waste pile that afternoon. All these flowers and foliage grew around the debris that was to be burned. The print on metallic paper has a sheen when the light catches it making the highlights in the fire stand out.
