Product description:This painting is based on an old schoolhouse called Sound Schoolhouse on Mount Desert Island, Maine. It's been restored and is now a museum. The double doors and size indicate that several children went there. A long time ago there was a very busy nearby quarry that provided granite for many buildings in the US. So a thriving community sprung up around that business and created a need for a school. I'm not sure if the original color was yellow but that's what it is today. This was done with quality oil paints and cold wax on stretched linen. The sides are painted and it's ready to hang.
